As I am running, I asked someone else, "do you speak English?"
"yes" was the reply.
"Where is the train?"
"I am not sure… Perhaps it is gone."
"Oh no!!! please help me ...where is the train?"
Another man says, "it appears to have stopped on the tracks way down there. Run but you will have to go around the tracks to get on the right platform… Hurry! Run… You might be able to catch it!"
I see diesel in the air ahead… I am still many kilometers away. I almost sick with the dehydration and heat. As I continue running, I’m not sure if the diesel smoke is coming from a parked train or a moving train. As I get closer, I see the doors are still open. My Swedish neighbor from the train greets me, as I jump onto the train.
"Where have you been? We have reported to the police that there is a missing American woman. We were so worried for you. We asked the conductor to wait."
Seven people on the train we’re watching out for me. The human spirit again surfaced.
I was exhausted and dehydrated.
