What inspires you? What is your greatest gift?

These are the questions that I’m asking people along my journey. These questions get some  dialogue. I met an energetic woman who is married a German man. She was traveling with three of her four children. Her family is a diverse mixture of ethnicities/nationalities. She said her greatest gift is openness...Open to possibilities… Open to people!

Later, I met another family at the German concentration camp. One of the boys said that his mom’s best gift is her determination, especially when most people would see a situation as hopeless. Her whole family saw her as optimistic. Everyone agreed...the husband and the boys seemed to have a similar trait....Empathy!

Today, I met a man who was not sure what his greatest gift is, but his daughter said that it was his funniness.

I met a young man who enjoyed helping others and seeing good in others.

I met the sweetest girls from the US studying in Germany. One of the girls that she used to run away from life and now, she runs toward it!

Another young man, I met on the train. Although he was born in Germany, his family came from Afghanistan as refugees. His greatest gift is singing and being positive. I was very inspired to hear him sing an Ed Sheeren song...excellent! He wished me a positive life.

This evening, I met a very happy couple that has been together for over 30 years. Their greatest gift...laughter!

Another man I met is a journalist. We were traveling by train. He said his greatest gift is curiosity.

One of my hosts states that helping others, especially Syrian refugees, is his greatest gift. When I asked him, “what inspires you?” he replied, “You do!” My mission has been accomplished.
