Are grapes still stomped by feet to make wine?

Yes, Quinta de S. ta Eufemia wine producers still use their feet to stomp grapes to make wine. (Just like "I Love Lucy!") The family has been producing wine for four generations. Amazingly, I ended up here, too!

I stayed with one of the owners and actually ate breakfast in the original wine cellar. Her great-grandfather purchased the farm about 1824.

It was a pleasure to stay on such a beautiful farm. When I came to Portugal, I had no idea where I would be staying in the Douro Valley. However, through a series of remarkable connections, arrangements were made to stay on this family farm. I feel extremely blessed and grateful.

The farm is located in the beautiful Douro Valley in Portugal. They produce red wine, white wine, olive oil, and 100,000 liters of Port wine yearly.
